INDIA bloc MPs attempted to march to the Election Commission's headquarters today in protest of the special intensive revision of the voter roll in Bihar but were halted by the authorities, who also detained leaders of opposition Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. The poll body had said yesterday to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh that the opposition could send up to 30 MPs to its office due to space constraints, but Ramesh informed it that the parliamentarians intended to march there and have a collective meeting on a number of issues. INDIA MPs' attempts to raise the issue in the Rajya Sabha were not included in the record on the grounds that a different topic was on the cards for discussion today. Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal alleged that the opposition “want the illegal migrants to vote” and “are doing this drama” to “conceal their lies and theft”. Sravasti Dasgupta reports.
