A good chunk of speeches Prime Minister Narendra Modi made during the general election campaign (at least 110 of 173, or 64%) featured “Islamophobic remarks apparently intended to undermine the political opposition (which he accused of only promoted Muslim rights) and foster fear among the majority Hindu community through disinformation”, Human Rights Watch has found.
