A Bombay high court bench this morning issued notice to the Mumbai police and to Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel in Kunal Kamra’s plea to quash an FIR filed against him at the Khar police station. The cops filed the FIR based on Patel’s complaint following a comedy show in which Kamra joked that Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde is a traitor. During today’s hearing Kamra’s lawyer said the Mumbai police has issued summons to the comedian despite his saying repeatedly that there is a danger to his life in travelling to Mumbai; the cops appear “not so keen on recording his statement but more on bringing him here physically”, PTI quotes him as saying.
