In Mizoram, the relatively new Zoram People’s Movement, an amalgam of parties led by Lalduhoma, has ended the decade-long rule of the Mizo National Front, bagging 27 seats. Chief minister Zoramthanga, who lost his own seat, has resigned. Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty explains the wider issues involved.
