Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is not a fan of the Supreme Court’s decision to prescribe a time limit to the president in disposing of Bills passed by state legislatures and referred to her by governors. Speaking at the vice president’s conclave earlier today, Dhankhar said of the directive to the president: “Where are we heading? What is happening in the country?” and that “we cannot have a situation where you direct the president of India”. He characterised Article 142 of the constitution – which gives the apex court powers to pass any order needed in the interests of justice – as having “become a nuclear missile against democratic forces available to the judiciary 24×7” and
